What's new: fuel economy and cost per km in Staticar
Staticar now works out your fuel consumption in L/100 km, fill-up after fill-up, and your cost per kilometre over 12 months. Here is how it works.
How much does your car really cost you? Since version 1.4.0, Staticar answers with two figures: your fuel consumption and your cost per kilometre. Version 1.4.1, available now on Google Play, also makes the app much smaller to download.
Your fuel economy, fill-up after fill-up
- When you log a fill-up, enter the odometer: the field is prefilled with your last reading.
- Keep "Full tank" ticked if you filled the tank. Consumption is measured from full tank to full tank: a partial fill-up counts towards the next full tank.
- Forgot to log a fill-up? Tick "I forgot to record the previous refuel": the calculation starts again instead of being skewed.
- Each full tank shows its consumption in L/100 km and the distance driven since the previous one. For a vehicle in miles, consumption is shown in mpg (US gallons).
The first figure appears after two full tanks with an odometer reading. Fill-ups logged before the update have no odometer reading: consumption starts with your next fill-ups.
Your cost per kilometre, over 12 months
In the Statistics tab:
- Cost per kilometre: all your expenses over the last 12 months, divided by the distance driven over the same period according to your readings. Rental income is not included.
- Fuel per kilometre: the same calculation, for fuel only.
- Average fuel price, weighted by litres: the total paid divided by the total litres, not the average of the prices shown at the pump.
- Average yearly mileage, once your readings cover more than 30 days.
Without a known distance, the app shows no cost per km rather than a false zero.
Checked mileage
An odometer does not go backwards: a reading lower than the previous one is refused, with a message that recalls the previous value and its date. An implausible value (more than 1,000 km a day on average) asks for confirmation.

- Kilometres or miles, chosen for each vehicle.
- Every expense can be edited, date and vehicle included.
- The app is fully translated into English, French and Spanish.
- Version 1.4.1: "Take a photo" now opens the camera for the vehicle photo.
Still 100% offline
These calculations run on your phone. Staticar has no account and no server, and the app has no Internet access.
